FD|A created a prototype for a line of nightstands. The intent of the design was to create a highly articulated box that expressed its function through detail. The average nightstand drawer is difficult to access from a seated position in bed, therefore the design for these nightstands tried to work around the problem by creating a nightstand that included a standard drawer, sliding work surface, a fixed surface along with an easily accessible drawer contained beneath the sliding surface.
