This project was for the design of a master suite including a new master bath in what was previously a bedroom. It was the intent of the design to maintain the historic integrity of the house while simultaneously creating a contemporary spa-like retreat. The new bath is located in a new free-standing clawfoot tub and vanity in the primary space, with an adjacent shower and toilet area. The floating vanity has two medicine cabinets that tie to a pencil trim extruded from the traditional door casing of the original house. The project navigates the traditional details of the house with contemporary insertions. In the bedroom, a large cased opening into the bath has a closet and a mirrored cabinet inserted as the defining element between the two rooms.
